Question of The Day

Email Question of The Day. Forums

Email Question:

” I recieved this email today. Do you think it is a scam? Not very happy with all the errors I picked up. My forum is now down”

Email:

Dear ********* ,

A few days ago we sent out a message on your forum (************.freeforums.org) about a huge sale on Advanced Hosting. While a lot of people have already taken advantage of this one-time offer, some were getting errors clicking the signup link. We have fixed the link and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

To remedy the situation we are going to extend the Advanced Hosting sale

(1) more day until August 1st. Once again, if you order Advanced Hosting by August 1st you will get 20% off AND $125 in free mod installing. This is the first and last time we will offer something like this. We will transfer all your members and posts to your new forums, install all the mods you currently have plus more all for free. For more information visit http://support.freeforums.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=56528

If you were having issues buying Advanced Hosting we hope this extra day gives to a chance to try again.

Thank you,

-FreeForums.org Team

Response:

Thank you for the email. As it is a unfortunate event about your forum I must say that you get what you pay for. After looking into the issue and reading what this company had to say! They are trying to pitch hosting service for Hostgator.com (the worst hosting ever). I did have a good laugh when I clicked on the video (two) that did not even play and just re-linked over to Hostgator.com. This is obviously a re-sale type of deal. You will be better off dealing with a solid company that will offer you solid website hosting and forum hosting. FYI…Never use a free forum, free website or hostgator for your business website. This could have all been avoided. If you notice, freeforums.org uses the terms “we sent out a message on your forum about a hosting deal” then they say “they had errors with the sign up” followed up with “they will offer this deal for one more day”.

A. If they wanted to offer a deal they would have sent you a email directly and not made a post on your forum.

B. The error is nothing new and sorry excuse to pitch hostgator.com

C. If the deal is only for a day! Notice how late in the day they sent the message?

Hope you are able to work things out. Best of luck

About thegoodhost

I graduated from USC with my business major. I started my company 10 years ago helping small businesses setting up marketing plans. During my time I have done loads of work developing websites, however my small business keeps me "busy" so working on websites is something that is the past for me now. The hours of my day are spent working close with my clients setting up marketing, radio adverts, TV adverts and online advertising. I work with small mom and pop shops, online shops, brick and mortar shops as well as fortune 500 companies. I also work close with many hosting companies referring my clients to them for websites. I have a handful of trusted free lance website designers that I use on a normal basis (I don’t know how you guys still do it..ha ha). I am happy to spend some time putting the knowledge I have on this small blog. I hope it gives some of you the wisdom and the power to make the right choices when it comes to your business.
